The Waterfront Lifeguard certification course incorporates both the Lifeguarding
course with the Waterfront skills module. The Lifeguard module is to prepare lifeguard candidates to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies, breathing and cardiac emergencies, and standard first aid injuries.The Waterfront portion gives candidates the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to emergencies in open-water areas found at public parks, resorts, summer camps and campgrounds.

Lifeguard candidates:
*Must be 16 years of age by the last session of the class
*Successfully pass pre-test
       ~ Swim 500 yards continuously using the front crawl and breaststroke.
       ~ Tread water for 2-minutes without using arms.
       ~ Retrieve a 10lb weight from 7 feet of water, and swim 20 yards using legs only in less than 1:40.
*Pass a written test (at least an 80%) and skills evaluation.
*Swim 5 yards, submerge and retrieve three dive rings places 5 yards apart, resurface and continue to swim another 5 yards to complete the skill sequence.

Upon successful completion of the lifeguard course, candidates will receive an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification, a First Aid certification and a CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification all valid for 2 years. 

Participation is mandatory all 6 days.  Classes are held rain or shine.  You will be participating in strenuous activities and may want to discuss any medical issues with your physician.
